Introduction
Gushan is a famous site in Fuzhou, easily accessible from the centre of the city and worthy of a morning's birding.

White-necklaced Hill Partridge was recorded here in the 1980s.

Chestnut Bulbul, Hwamei, Blue Magpie plus the usual common south China birds, although probably not including hill country babblers.

Gushan is probably best visited at migration periods when accipiters and warblers will bolster the resident species, though winter can also be good.

The hills are covered with mostly young secondary growth.
Getting there
Gu Shan is easily accessed from central Fuzhou. Take bus 49 from the north bus station or a taxi to the gate. A cable car up to the peak area costs Rmb25.
